It's been a busy day. I started the day by making DH and I, bacon, egg and cheese sandwiches on buns. Then I took my Navy shower and dried my hair.
Next I was off to Kohl's with a 15% off everything coupon in my wallet. I found one top for me on sale for $ 14.40( orginal price was $ 24.) before the 15% discount and all these cute tops, pj's and the dress for my grandaughter. The tops were $ 3.60 each( original price $ 12.00 each), the pj's were $ 6.40( originally $ 32.00) and the dress was $ 8.00( originally $ 20.00) before the 15% discount. The total after my coupon was $ 36.37 for all! This is how I usually buy clothes at deep discount!
Then I stopped at Great Clips and used a coupon to get my hair trimmed about an inch. With coupon and tip, I paid $ 12.00.
Next was a stop at CVS to get DH's prescription( $30.) and 2 bottles of Dawn( $ 2.00). I paid with $ 19.52 that I had left on my Free prescription Giftcards and the balance of $ 12.10 in cash. I received a $10.00 Prescription Giftcard because I had a coupon and $ 1.00 in ECB's for the Dawn purchase.
My last stop on the way home was at Jack in the Box for our treat for the week for lunch. I had a B1G1F coupon for their mini sirloin burgers, so I paid $ 3.99 for lunch for the 2 of us. Each mini sirloin burger order has 3 of them. It is too much for one meal so we each have one left for dinner and I will make up a salad to go with them.
We continue to live with the lights off in the daytime, turn the hot water tank off during on peak hours, cook outdoors, keep the A/C at 81- 82, use the dishwasher and washer during off peak hours and keep all TV's radios, computers, etc. off during on peak hours.
Last week DH bought a new net to skim the pool. The old net seemed so wasteful to throw out just because the netting was ripped. DH hates to see all that metal and plastic go to the landfill. We have been trying to think of where we could buy the netting to fix the old one. Finally DH decided that buying a piece of cloth screening from a hardware store would work and be a lot cheaper than buying a new net each time the net rips.
Over the last few days, DH has steam cleaned some of our carpeting. It looks new and we saved a fortune over paying to have it cleaned. We own our own steam cleaner.
I received 2 more Amazon.com gift certificates from SwagBucks. I have almost enough again to order a DVD for my grandaughter.
DH contacted our TV cable company yesterday. When we first ordered cable, we got a bundled deal. They have now unbundled it and we pay for everything separately. So DH called and cancelled the movie tier that we never watch anyhow and we will save $6.30+ tax every month.
I will be spending some time this afternoon searching for coupons to use for restaurants and retail stores while my sister is here. If anyone knows of any great printable coupons, please help me out ny leaving the web address in comments. Thanks! We both like to shop and eat out but like to do it as cheaply as possible.
We will be going for our usual swim in an hour or so. Reading is on the agenda for tonight!
As usual, please feel free to let me know what you did to save money today by leaving a comment.

Do you have an entertainment book for your area? I'm not sure if it would be worth it to buy one or not, but I like mine.

Hi Lucky,
Yes I have one.
precious,
if you have 45 swagbucks, exchange them for a 25.00 restaurant.com gift card. then you can use that for restaurants in your area that are on the restaurant.com list. make sure you read the fine print for each restaurant. Most let you use the certificates anytime, but a few will have stipulations like "only monday through friday" or "anytime before 6pm."
oh yeah :o)
restaurant.com constantly has 70 or 80% off codes for their site too, so you can get it even cheaper with your FREE swagbucks lol. coupon mom usually has the codes posted.
You can get a $25 Restaurant GC for 45 Swagbucks
Hi Amiyrah and Pubbler,
Thanks for telling me about the swagbucks and restaurant.com! I had forgotten!
If I remember right you're in Mesa, restaurants.com has had $25 gc for The Landmark. DH and I went there last night for our anniversary, you only have to spend $35 (instead of $50 like many of them). They have a salad room that is $13.95 and has salad bar with soup, rolls, some hot items, and pudding/dessert. Add drinks or an appetizer and only pay $10 (18% gratuity is added to pre-coupon price). Baci's (Italian)is also a good one on like Ellsworth and Germann. Also, if you don't already have one, the Enjoy the City books are very nice for fast food B1G1F.
Thank you for posting about the things you do to save money! I think about them as I go throughout my day. You may already be doing this, but my friend who worked at SRP said the best way to use the Time of Use is to turn the air down cold during the off-peak hours and then turn it back up during on-peak. That way it doesn't have to run as much during on-peak. I do this and turn it to 77-78 from 11-1 then turn it to 82 from 1-8. The AC doesn't even kick on for a couple hours once I turn it up because the house is cooled down. Just an idea...
Hi Jenny,
We love The Landmark. We actually have a card for their club. Their salad bar and their steaks and seafood are do die for. I had no idea that they were on restaurant.com! Thank you so much! We will definitely be going there!
We have never been to Baci's. Yeah! A new restaurant to try!
No I don't have one of those books. How do I get one?
Thank you for your comments. They are invaluable to me.
Hi Jenny,
I forgot to say that I am glad I can help you out with the money saving things I do.
We do what you do on the A/C. It is at 78 during the off peak. It does keep the house cool for a few hours of the on peak. As long as we are not doing heavy cleaning during the on peak hours, we are quite copmfortable at 81-82.
Enjoythecity.com $15, I don't remember if there was a shipping charge or not, but if you use it 3-4 times you've earned your money back. It also has B1G1F to the Wildlife World Zoo which is a fun outing when people are in town (especially since the regular tickets are like $26!) If you want more specific info on what is in it I can look at mine.
My aunt who travels a lot also buys these to the cities they are going to help cut down on food costs for their family of 5.
Jenny,
Thanks for the website. I am going to go check it out.
If you call your cable company and ask to speak to their retention department, often they will give you your previous rate or better so you don't have to give anything up. Even though you did give up the movies you should call them, ask for retention and explain that you've been a long-time loyal customer, paying your bill on time and would like better rates. They will usually oblige. I used to work for Charter Communications and until they filed for bankruptcy they were very good about doing this. They still do but they arent' quite as generous.
Hi KristinBrianne,
Thanks for the info.
