Money Saving Challenge - 2/24/10

Since I will be extremely busy the next few weeks, my blog posts may be farther apart. But when I have snippets of time, I will do my best to let you know what is new.

I have done a few money saving things over the past few days to save money:

- Received 3 more Amazon Gift Certificates from SwagBucks and ordered one more

- Received an Amazon Gift Certificate from Opinion Outpost

- Received a really nice Freezer Reusable Bag from Nestle and Haagen Daz

- Our National Grid bill came and it was $ 6.00 less than last month so I must be doing something  right.

- Received my Free Subscription to Weight Watchers Magazine

- Finally picked out 4 paint colors for 4 of the rooms in  the house. Now I can research the best price for the paint.

- Researched electric and gas options for the house. Leaning towards a TOU rate for electricity and a supplier for gas

- Ordered a few free samples

- Earned $10.00 in ECBS for a CVS Advisor survey

- Purchased 5 Free Scotch Fur Fighters so that I can keep them in many rooms of the house and one in the car to keep my cat's fur under control in those rooms

- Purchased the Fisher Price Melodies and Lights Deluxe Gym for my grandson using Amazon GC's

- Roasted a turkey breast for dinner last night so that we will have leftovers and easy meals the next few nights.

Please feel free to leave a comment telling us what you did to save money and share with all of us.

A funny CVS story for you P. The clerk last week finished my order and said "wow you saved a lot of money. I don't do coupons, but you saved a lot!"

I tell you, if I worked at the store and knew the promotions in advance like they do, and knew which items were being discontinued, you could be sure I'd be saving a lot more.

It's funny how their own employees sometimes don't even realize what kind of money they could be saving.

Good luck with it all! I can't wait to see pictures of your new house when it is all said and done.

I had to go back to Tops last night because when I did my first shopping there, they were empty on Land-o-Lakes. Grrrr! The store in my neighborhood had only one cashier on. I shop at Tops for the bargains, not customer service!

Great ways to save!

Hi Alex M,

I would be too. So many people could be saving many dollars if they just took the time to coupon.

Hi Slugmama,

CONGRATS! You did fantastic with that purchase. Couponing and saving money always pays off in the long run!

Hi Lucky,

Thanks for the good wishes. We were just notified that it has been delayed another week. UGH!

I will take pics once we are in the house.

Hi Alex M,

I am glad you finally got your LO'L!

I am also finding the customer service at Tops is horrid. One hand doesn't know what the other one is doing. Everytime I would shop there the coupon policy would change. This was after I talked 3 times to the customer service people at the store to make sure that I knew the policy. I finally had to go to corporate and tell them that I wanted something in writing showing all of the rules and regs for their coupon policy. They had the store manager call me and he agreed to copy their coupon policy right from the pages that are given to the management people. I picked it up and haven't had a problem since. If I do, I have the written pages to pull out and show them.
