The picture above is one of our neighbors homes. The taxes total $32000.+ a year. I can't even imagine paying that. The assessed value is $ 1,120, 900. YIKES!
It certainly is beautiful though!
The one below is a real bargain at $608,900. Taxes are only $ 18,091.39 a year! Makes my total tax bill for one year of $8000. seem like a real bargain!

I can't even imagine paying $8,000 a year in taxes. I'd probably die when I wrote the check. Our tax bill is $1200 and I grimace when I write that one!
Sweet mercy, $8000 a year for taxes??????????? Makes my $2100 a year up here in Canada seem like robbery. Your neigbours homes are beautiful, unfortunately despite the high price tags, crime can and does happen everywhere.

I probably will too! But that is the cost of living in New York State and building in one of the best school districts in the area...Starpoint Central School District. This is an estimate the builder has given us based on the price tag of the house for school and property taxes. Time will tell!

New York isn't cheap taxwise. You are correct about the crime happening everywhere. However I can at least try to be in a safe area which this is. The crime rate is so low here compared to the Phoenix, AZ area. Crime was getting worse and worse there due to the lack of control on the border. We very rarely ventured out at night there. Here no problem.
