The above picture shows some of the things that came in the mail on just one day last week. They were freebies. The Valspar paint sample is so I can try the sample in my guest bathroom to see how I like it before I purchase it. It also came with a $ 5.00 off coupon to buy the paint. Thanks to:
Mrs. G
for the tip on this. The magazine subscriptions were both free. Even if it isn't a magazine that I would normally read, for free it's for me. That is because I get a lot of coupons that I can use for money off from them. The Office Depot coupons I keep and file just like my regular coupons. I have a separate folder with pockets that I keep all of my retail store coupons in. The pockets are all alphabetical. I keep in in the car so that it is always handy no matter where I am. None of these items may make you a fortune but over a years time, it all adds up. Just like your grocery coupons, if you work them right they will save you money. I rarely buy anything without a coupon. It isn't actually making money but keeping money in my wallet that I would have spent.
In this economy, I see so many people out of work and so many others who would just like to bring in a little bit more money. Can you start a little business to bring in some $$$$? Perhaps you can start a babysitting service or a shopping service. The baby boomers are starting to reach 65 years old and I see a huge market in shopping for them. Can you do their grocery shopping, pick up their prescriptions, take them to Dr. appointments? There are so many things this aging segment of our population will need over the next years. Can you do some tutoring? Are you an expert in a field where you can do some consulting work? DH has done some consulting work in his field in the past. When we were first retired, a company contracted him as a consultant. DH did a few jobs for them and then decided he didn't want to do anymore. Most jobs are contract jobs so you do have to deal with self employment taxes and pay social security as both the employee and employer. DH hasn't taken any in a number of years but was asked to take one a couple of weeks ago. Since there is no reason we can't earn all of the money we want to and it was a consulting job that he was very interested in, he took it. It only involves about 3 days worth of work at a 4 figure salary per day. Since DH was so interested in it and the pay was so good, it will help replace some of the money that we used to purchase this home. We didn't expect this opportunity but when it surfaced, it was just too good to pass up. So keep your eyes open and your imagination working, and you will see all of the possibilities.
Turn your UP Rewards from Rite Aid into cash by using them to pay for Single Check Rebate Items. That is so easy!
Join sites like Groupon or one of the other online buying sites to double your money. I have gotten an Amazon $20. giftcertificate for $10., a Kansas City Steaks $ 50. giftcertificate for $ 25.. etc.
What have you done lately to bring in some extra cash? Feel free to leave a comment and share with all of us.
I will be blogging Part 3 in a few days!

I've been working on my crafts to sell on Etsy and at local craft fairs to make some money. I also have been taking advantage of pairing rebates and coupons to the best of my ability. I just shopped Staples and paid $62 for a bunch of goodies and expect to get back about $75 in rebates.
Hi Tiffany,
Thanks for sharing. Great job on the rebates!
Great read! Glad you got the sample so quickly. I got one to help a freind who is redoing her bathroom. :)
Hi Mrs. G,
Yes, it came quickly. Thank you!
I guess I missed the paint sample! :(
Been trying to do more rebates, I also jump on free magazines for more coupons.
Since I knit, I am knitting fingerless gloves. They are great for driving and having your fingers free to dig in the purse of whatever. Also knitting wide, headbands with embellishments on them. My SIL's sister say that and I told her that they were selling downtown for $20 but she could pay me $10 but she insisted on paying me $20. That paid for lots of yarn to make more. A co-worker also wants one for her granddaughter. I plan to make up plenty and then try to sell them. I like to do it and if they don't sell I'll donate them. Win/win situation. That way when I am wasting time watching all my reality shows, I am accomplishing something!!!
I've learned so much since starting couponing and finding your blog for frugal advice... I do a little each day. But as you said the extra savings do indeed add up.
It's funny, cuz my girls went to the movies yesterday. I asked them what time they were going and both answered in unison, "matinee mom it's cheaper", lol!!
They also both chipped in for a popcorn and brought some candy from home, shhhhhh :-)
Little things, but it really does make a difference!!!
I've been selling my kid's outgrown clothes at consignment sales...then using the profits to buy what they need now.
I also do as many rebates as I can.
Hi Lisa B,
You didn't miss it. It is here:

Hi Kathy,
I wish I could knit. MY MIL tried to teach me and I just wasn't co-ordinated enough. Good luck with this money making venture.
Hi didicoffeegirl,
That is all it takes;a little a day! I love that your girls are learning to be frugal. That will serve them well when they have their own families.
I take all my little ones clothes to a resale store where they either pay me cash or twice the value if I accept store credit. I buy virtually all her clothes on clearance or with deep discounts so to turn them around and get more clothes, saves me so much. I've also listed a few items on ebay but find it a lot of work so pack and mail if I am making only a few bucks so will only list items that are worth the time in the future.
Hi Sunny simple life,
I think that is a great way to do things. I love consignment shops not only for selling but for buying.
