Quiet Weekend Except for Grocery Shopping

We have had a relaxing quiet weekend. Yesterday, West and my son came to visit so we played a Bingo game and matching tile game with him for entertainment. They were birthday gifts he received from his aunt, uncle,  and cousin. He loved it especially when he won. Last night, I went to West's to  babysit while his Mom and Dad went out to dinner. While West was sleeping I managed to get my grocery list for today made. Last night we had steamed tilapia, tossed salad, and brussel sprouts for dinner.

This morning I slept in and then went grocery shopping at Top's. I picked up some meat and shrimp and mushrooms to give us some variety while I am on Weight Watchers. I picked up all of the above pictured items for  $45.91. The chicken was on sale for $ 1.99 a lb. The turkey tenderloin, shrimp, and mushrooms were also on sale. The Turkey Kielbasa was on sale for B2G3F. After spending the $ 45.91, I have $62.28 left for the rest of the month.

I have been working out every day in the exercise room for about 20 minutes trying to get back into a routine. I am about to head in there now. Dinner tonight will be broiled honey mustard pork chops, brussel sprouts and rice ( for DH). I have been trying to stick to meat and veggies.

Other than that, we will just be watching some TV and reading.

Please feel  free to leave a comment and share with us what you did to save money today.

I have been doing well the last few weeks staying under budget but I do need a meat stock up and soon.

Sounds like you've really got everything all planned! I sure do envy you for your budgeting, I am not so good at it and spend much too much on groceries, especially since I buy a lot of organic products which are expensive. However, you have inspired me and I am going to try to stick with a budget starting in February! I will be reading your blog regularly now!

Hi Elaine,

I have alot of turkey, turkey bacon and ham but didn,t have a lot of other things. I feel better now with some chicken and ground meat. Meat is so expensive. Kudos for staying on your budget.

Hi Lana,

Good luck with your budget. It really helps if you have a stockpile. The budget I can do. I have to apply the same discipline now to my dieting.

Great deals, and you are doing fantastic with the budget. Dinners sounding yummy!
Would you tell us what do you use as your price book?

Thanks for sharing

Hi Urmelche,

I am a pen and pencil girl. I use a small 3 ring binder with 4x6 lined index cards in it. That way if a card gets full and I find a cheaper price, I can start a new card and throw the old one out when I have prices for all of my stores on the new card.

Precious, thank you so much. I am also Paper and Pen/cil gal. Mine was a little quad booklet brought from home, it is finally on it's last leg, went out to some office stores but none. So looking into some other options and yours sound great. Will have to check into these!
Thanks again

Hi Jillian,

Sorry it took me so long to post your comment but I am under the weather today so I have barely gotten out of bed. I hope to be back posting tomorrow.

One month of pantry cleaning; good for you. I need to do that.
